CanWriteExistingFile Method

Tests for the ability to open an existing file for write access.

Syntax

public static Exception CanWriteExistingFile( 
   string fileName
)

Parameters

fileName: Full physical path of the file to attempt to open.

Return Value

Exception that occurred during the test, or null if the test succeeded.

Remarks

The contents of the file are not changed by this method.

Requirements

Target Platforms: Windows 7, Windows Vista SP1 or later, Windows XP SP3, Windows Server 2008 (Server Core not supported), Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core supported with SP1 or later), Windows Server 2003 SP2
